In this project, student Aran Vink examined the possibility of creating a new developing platform for the CAVE based on programming languages that most students know. Normal software applications don’t have to take into account

  • Clustering (communication between de CAVE components)
  • Several display areas/screens
  • Stereoscopic images
  • Tracking hardware (Wiimote driver)
  • Tracking and positioning

Using Microsoft’s XNA framework with C#, he created these functionalities. XNA is a 3D/multimedia platform used mainly for games. By August 2009 he had a working demo application in which 3D worlds could be loaded, and viewed interactively.
